PURPOSE

The Metro Code Council was set up before the uniform State Code (NFPA 70, National Electrical Code) was adopted. Each county and municipality in the metro Atlanta area had its own electrical code which was confusing to the contractors and others. Its purpose was to educate, inform and make the code enforcement more uniform in the metro area through meetings and discussions between the Metro Code members. It has continued through the state adoption of the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code. However in todays inspection environment we find ourselves in the same dilemma as when Metro Code first began, with all the different inspection agencies not conferring with each other again, and so we are asking for your help to once again bring some cohesiveness to our industry from an interpretation standpoint.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership consists of electrical inspectors, contractors, engineers, testing laboratories, and other parties interested in understanding the NEC and its enforcement.

Inspectors are the most important part of making the Metro Code work. Their participation is crucial.

INTERPRETATION COMMITTEE

Part of the Metro Code Council is the Interpretation Committee. It consists of a cross membership of the council. It has called meetings when a code problem needs more research and discussion than a regular meeting could solve. And the results will be available on the AECA website Metro Code Section.
