THE rich history of the
atlanta electrical
contractors association
The Atlanta Electrical Contractors Association (AECA) is the leading, professional trade association representing, promoting, and advancing the electrical contracting industry in Georgia since 1929. AECA leads the industry in the practical application of new and emerging technologies in the construction industry and the public it serves.
AECA members are electrical contractors who work in all aspects of electrical construction. Our membership is comprised of over 100 electrical contracting firms, service providers, and suppliers.
We are one of 119 chapters affiliated with the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) representing over 70,000 electrical contracting firms and employing over 650,000 electrical workers. The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) is the voice of the $171 billion electrical construction industry that brings power, light, and communication technology to buildings and communities across the U.S.
Governance
The officers of the Association (AECA) consist of the chairman of the board, president, secretary/treasurer, and governor. AECA’s Board of Directors has eight members, including the chairman of the board, president, secretary/treasurer, and governor. Officers and directors serve two-year terms or until their successors are elected. All officers and directors are elected by the membership and must be members of the Association (AECA). The president of the Board of Directors appoints a nominating committee before the September meeting of the Board.
Election of officers and directors takes place by ballot before or at the October meeting. The Board of Directors may appoint any member in good standing
to fill a vacancy in an officer or director position occurring through resignation or for any unexpired portion of the term of office.
Committees served by members of the Board of Directors include Family Health & Pension Trustees, Labor Management, Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee, Personnel Development, Code of Excellence, Governmental Affairs, and Labor Negotiations.
